THE DALLAS ISD. WHERE ALL THE WOMEN ARE STRONG, ALL THE MEN ARE GOOD LOOKING, AND ALL THE CHILDREN ARE ABOVE AVERAGE.
The Dallas ISD has a new grading policy, to-wit…
- Homework grades should be given only when the grades will “raise a student’s average, not lower it.”
- Teachers must accept overdue assignments, and their principal will decide whether students are to be penalized for missing deadlines.
- Students who flunk tests can retake the exam and keep the higher grade.
- Teachers cannot give a zero on an assignment unless they call parents and make “efforts to assist students in completing the work.”
Sounds rather like this, doesn’t it?
Morons.

While I wouldn’t mind having most of those policies in place for my own teenaged daughter, who has a problem getting assignments done, I can see that, in the long run, it’s not a really honest approach to learning/grading.

Just seems like to me they might as well just give everyone an “A” and have done with it as long as they show up for class. I’m so glad I don’t teach any more.

However, the spawn of Mycroft would have graduated from high school with honors had they not been so focused on trying to make him do the trivial exercises . . .
